003: Bishnu Thapa of OneSeed Expeditions
Bishnu Thapa, the Director of Nepal Guiding Operations for OneSeed Expeditions, shares her experiences as a female trekking guide. In Nepal, patriarchal norms are still prevalent — women are expected to stay home and help with the children or do household duties. But more and more women are becoming trekking guides, proving that gender doesn’t matter, and instead it’s about strength, skill, and an immense knowledge of the land. Bishnu joined us on the podcast to chat more about her work as first a porter and now a guide in one of the world’s most revered hiking destinations.
