008: Fereshteh Forough of Code to Inspire

Fereshteh Forough opened the first coding school for girls in Afghanistan in 2015. In Afghanistan, women are often left to care for the home so parents don’t want to put as much emphasis on (or money into) education for girls, and sometimes they simply can’t afford it. Code to Inspire gives young girls the chance to learn coding and game development at no cost, which opens a world of job opportunities and helps in the fight for social, political, and economic equality. Fereshteh talks about how she got into coding, life for women in Afghanistan, and how people have responded to CTI.
